notes:
This model is a replica of a facade found in the interior courtyard of the Palais Royale in Paris, a palace commissioned by Cardinal Richelieu and designed by architect Jacques Lemercier. The extravagant structure, which sits opposite the Louvre, was completed in 1624.
Since 1988 Timothy Richards has been creating precise, exceptionally beautiful British Gypsum plaster architectural models from his workshop in Bath, England, incorporating etched brass, white metal, copper, hand-made glass, and gold, where required. Educated in Bath, Richards has received commissions for his finely crafted and detailed models from the Royal Opera House, The Victoria & Albert Museum, the Courtauld's Gallery, Harvard University, the US Department of State, the House of Commons, the Spanish Government, and members of the Royal British Family.
