Layers : Softcupboard signed, unique piece designer: Hella Jongerius design year: 2006 manufacturer: JongeriusLab, the Netherlands notes: Working with an expert craftsman in wood, Jongerius created this intricately carved sideboard, which features turned posts alluding to objects previously designed by her in other materials. Assembled in two parts, Softcupboard is adorned with loose-hanging drawer covers and soft walls made of one-off prototypes of Layers textiles, which she developed over three years in collaboration with Maharam. The Softcupboard comes with the following pieces which populate the shelves: four Bonanza jugs (two yellow, one white, one pink) each with a different bronze stopper, four B-service dinner plates, two salad plates, two small bowls, one large bowl, and two cups (white).
