hand-painted majolica with a hollow interior; clay is between 1 ½” and 2 ¾” thick

notes:
This sculpture was created and painted by Wackerle himself, and was placed in the Park at Nymphenburg in 1908, where it resided until appearing in this exhibition. A second sculpture like this one was created at the same time by Wackerle for the Theresienhohe exhibition grounds and is now in the permanent collection of the Munich Stadtmuseum.
