San Lorenzo studio was formed in 1970 by Ciro Cacchione with his friends Antonio and Domenico Piva and Enrico Salvi, with the intention of creating a new idiom in sterling silver. What spurred Mr. Cacchione to take this initiative was his perception that the design of European silverware had, with some honorable exceptions, been stagnant for several decades. He believed that silver had been largely ignored as a medium for contemporary design.
