Patrick Jouin was born in 1967 in Nantes, France. After graduating from Les Ateliers / Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, Jouin joined Thomson Multimedia in 1992, working under then Artistic Director Philippe Starck . The following year, Jouin was invited to join Starck’s own Studio in Paris, and in the succeeding years collaborated with him on several major projects. In 1998, Jouin ventured out to establish his own agency, accepting assignments for product design and interior architecture. His succeeding work in interior architecture lead to a close collaboration with renowned chef Alain Ducasse, designing his restaurant Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athenee, Paris, as well as Ducasse’s New York restaurant, Alain Ducasse at the Essex House, and Mix in Las Vegas, at Mandalay Bay.Patrick Jouin’s work is characterized by a highly sculptural, tecno-minimalist approach. Jouin’s current experiments shown here, employing stereolighography, are seminal in this area, and test the limits of this process. |
