The Harder they Fall 09 opening night party
Monday, September 14
With artists Andy Coolquitt, Peter Marigold and Jay Kaplan in attendance, Moss once again defied the economic gloom with a three store-wide Moss Moroso Maharam fall opening. The music played and the wine, it flowed like, well, like wine. Happy September all around.

Palindrome, which is the name of this series of furniture pieces by Peter Marigold, means a word, or possibly a table, that reads the same, backwards or forwards. It’s doubtful that anyone in this picture understands this at all.
The lightbulb you see here is not energy saving and Andy Coolquitt who designed this piece is from Texas. Need I say more?
The table is beautiful, no? It’s called DEED. Remember what we said about reading the same backward and forward? The other half of the table, the white half, is a plaster cast of the wooden half. Understand?
Murray is trying to explain to the two women with many bags what Andy Coolquitt’s work is all about. That’s Andy with the beard.
That tall thing is a gun cabinet. And what’s with all the bags? Have you ever seen so many bags?
Okay, this is a classic Moss party photo. That’s Constantin Boym and two heads to the right is Jay Kaplan, and under the Peter Marigold table are two Julien Carretero vases. What an evening, eh?
This is also pretty iconic. The mannikin is from Ralph Pucci, and the clothes, of course are Marc Newson for G-Star. Don’t know who the humans are, but do you see the bags? Was Bag the theme for the night or something?

That’s Jake standing in front of the new new new neon Moss sign. It’s shot from an angle so you can’t really read it, but you KNOW what it says, right?
This is a shot from the gallery part of the show. That’s Maarten Baas work on the left, and those Venini lights have all been moved over from Centovini. As perhaps have also the two women.
Okay, I’m not going to say anything about the bags. But that’s Matthew Ronay in the tee shirt carrying the kind of herringbone color striped bag thing. Notice how well it goes with the Julien Carretero table almost out of the picture on the right.
You’ve heard of Droog Design, yes? That’s Mrs. Droog Design, there on the right, Renny Ramakers.
If Gertrude Stein and Yul Brynner had had twins.
It’s not our job to enable alcoholism, but Peter Marigold was, how do I put it. very very thirsty. And I know this is not the best shot, but that’s Jay Kaplan’s back, there on the right. He’s drinking also. Probably.
